📘 DATA AND INFORMATION
🔹 What is Data?
Data is a collection of raw facts and figures.
👉 Example:
50, 70, 90 (marks only numbers = data)
Names like Ram, Sita
🔹 What is Information?
Information is processed data that gives meaning.
👉 Example:
“Ram got 90 marks” (this is meaningful → information)
📁 FILE
🔹 What is a File?
A file is a collection of data stored in a computer.
👉 Examples:
A document file (notes)
A picture file
A music file
🔹 Different File Formats
File format tells the type of file.
👉 Examples:
.docx → Word file
.jpg → Image file
.mp3 → Audio file
.mp4 → Video file
.pdf → Document file
📂 FOLDER
🔹 What is a Folder?
A folder is a place where files are stored and organized.
👉 Like a school bag that keeps books neatly.
🛠️ HOW TO CREATE A FOLDER (Steps)
Right-click on desktop
Click New
Click Folder
Type folder name
Press Enter
🔄 OPERATIONS ON FOLDER / FILES
🔹 1. Open a Folder
👉 Steps:
Double-click on the folder
ORRight-click → Click Open
🔹 2. Delete a Folder/File
👉 Steps:
Select the file/folder
Press Delete key
ORRight-click → Click Delete
🔹 3. Copy a Folder/File
👉 Steps:
Right-click on file/folder
Click Copy
🔹 4. Paste a Folder/File
👉 Steps:
Go to location
Right-click → Click Paste
🔹 5. Cut a Folder/File
👉 Steps:
Right-click on file/folder
Click Cut
🔹 6. Move using Cut + Paste
👉 Steps:
Cut the file
Go to new location
Paste it
🔤 WHAT IS FILE EXTENSION?
File extension is the last part of a file name after a dot (.)
👉 Examples:
photo.jpg
song.mp3
notes.docx
It tells the type of file.
📊 STEPS TO SORT FILES
Sorting means arranging files in order.
👉 Steps:
Open the folder
Right-click in empty space
Click Sort by
Choose option:
Name
Date
Size
Type
Comments
